2012 4-H Summer Camp

July 23-27 at Camp Susan North of Antigo

Can you believe it? Summer Camp is just around the corner! Again this year we will be camping at Camp Susan, located just north of Antigo. All interested youth, currently 2nd – 7th grade are invited. Non 4-H friends are also welcome. A bus will transport campers.

Early Bird Registrations – by June 1st – $90 for members, $100 for non-members
Regular Registrations – after June 1st – $100 for members, $100 for non-members

There will be swimming, hiking, and other great outdoor activities planned! Registrations accepted until camp is full. Camp fees cover lodging, busing, meals, craft/canteen, and other miscellaneous expenses. Non-members fee also includes special insurance.

Again this year, 5th graders will have a day hike learning various camping and hiking skills and making their own lunch. The 6th and 7th graders will have an optional campout which will be much more adventurous! This campout will leave camp to hike to their campsite, make their shelter, supper, learn more survival skills ont he trail, sleep out and make breakfast on the trail before returning to camp! If you are a 6th or 7th grader and would like to participate in this campout, please indicate this on your registration so we can plan accordingly. You will not be able to go if you did not sign up.

Camp registrations are located in April’s Cloverline, at the UWEX office or listed below. Sending in registrations early gives our team of counselors and staff more time to plan. Please send along a check for the appropriate amount made payable to: Shawano County 4-H Leaders, Inc.

Camp and Award Trip Sponsorships Available
If your family is currently experiencing financial difficulties, scholarships are available to help with the cost.  Those who would like assistance with 4-H camp will receive a $50 sponsorship. In regards to other trips, the fund can be used to cover up to half of the member’s portion of the total cost of the trip.  There is an application available either from the UW-Extension Office or on our website (address is on the back cover).  To be eligible to receive a sponsorship, you will be required to work in the 4-H Food Stand to help replenish the fund.  These are due by May 31.   Get a copy of the Camp Sponsorship Request Form (pdf).
