Projects & Required Meetings
Active Project Leaders Needed for Successful 4-H Member Experience
Project leaders are expected to spend a minimum of 6 hours (many give more) in helping project members. Be active…don’t wait for members to say they need help. It’ll be too late, if you wait.
Here’s how to be a great 4-H Project Leader:
- Call members together (telephone, letter, personal invitation).
- Discuss project possibilities (explain your interests and limits)
- Explain your project goals to members & parents
- Help members write down SPECIFIC goals
- Set project help and teaching times (for group, or individuals). Two to six project meetings per year are recommended, according to need.
- Arrange for a project related tour or other project group experience (Helping members attend county offered training is important.)
- When appropriate…..visit member’s home to see their projects (e.g. gardens, animal, large projects)
Successful 4-H members are your results of leader effort. We hope you will take your project leader role seriously and make this year the best ever for members and yourselves. Thank you for taking time to help our youth!
