- Award Trip Sponsorship Request Form (word doc, 12.9KB)- If your family is currently experiencing financial difficulties, sponsorships are available to help with the cost of trips. Those who would like assistance with 4-H camp will receive a $50 sponsorship. In regards to other trips, the sponsorship fund can be used to cover half of the member’s portion of the total cost of the trip. All sponsorship fund applications are kept strictly confidential.
Purpose of the Wisconsin 4-H Trip Program
- To recognize the accomplishments of outstanding 4-H members in projects, activities, community contributions, and leadership.
- To encourage youth participation in high quality educational programs.
- To demonstrate publicly the quality of the 4-H Program.
Each year, when members apply for award trips they are to answer 2 questions: How could we promote 4-H? and How could we improve 4-H in Shawano County?
Due to the large number of applicants this year, we have received a lot of great suggestions. Many of them are ideas that would work well on the club level. Over the next few issues we will be sharing a few of those suggestions (as space permits). The following were taken directly from resumes.
How could we promote 4-H? How could we improve 4-H in Shawano County? Each year, when members apply for award trips they are to answer 2 questions. The following were taken directly from submitted resumes.
Promotion:
- Members should do a PowerPoint in schools showing some of the awesome things we do in 4-H. This would give members a chance to work on their public speaking. The slide show could have info about the different projects, fun activities, 4-H camp, and trip that we are able to go on because of 4-H. Some may be surprised that there are sports involved in 4-H. The grand finale of the show could be the County Fair and all the great things that happen there. After the slide show, we could have them break out into different groups and have the 4-H members tell about their own experiences.
Improvements:
- We need to reach out not only to our communities, but also to our state, country and our world. We should have food drives, donate school supplies, have fundraisers and just send simple letter to people in the military. Have everyone set goals to attain on the club, county and state level. Motivate yourself.
- To improve or better our own clubs, we should try to make everything fun. Maybe we could have a kid or family bring an animal or some other project. We could also get together and have a day where all the members could work on their books and the leaders could help with anything. Even a meeting where the kids could choose a thing we want to take to the fair and as a whole group we would make a fair book together to show them how you put it together.

Additional Funding Available:
We realize not everyone can afford even the decreased travel expenses. That is why Shawano Co. began their scholarship fund. So if the portion or your cost of the trip is still too costly at this time for your family, you can apply for a scholarship. Simply contact our office for a simple 1 page form and the Executive Board will consider your request. For most trips that fund can contribute up to 50% of your portion of the total trip cost. For example: Total cost of trip=$1000, if 4-H Leaders funds 75%, you are still responsible for $250. But you can apply to the Scholarship Fund for an additional 50% of your portion or $125.
