A Hunger Prevention Project Program runs July through October

The F.R.E.S.H. Project and the Shawano County UW-Extension Family Living Program runs a hunger prevention program which allows area gardeners to donate extra home-grown fruits and vegetables to those in need. Gardeners bring their produce to drop-off sites in Shawano County where it is then distributed to those who can use it. New this year is the “Grow A Row” program.  Please consider adding an extra row of carrots, tomatoes or even lettuce to share, but anything will be accepted.

It’s a simple program. All varieties of fruits and vegetables are accepted in quantities both large and small. Produce should be reasonably clean. Containers are provided on site. This is a “win-win” situation because gardeners’ produce will not go to waste and recipients get healthy food at no cost. We ask that the donors log in what they brought and the weight of the donation. There is no income requirements or paperwork for the recipients.
